What is Tillered Transparent Acceleration? Beta 0.1.0

Tillered Transparent Acceleration (TTA) is a cutting-edge solution designed for organisations with specific networking requirements that demand seamless connectivity and efficient data transfer across multiple sites. By leveraging Tillered's advanced optimisation technologies, TTA enhances TCP connections and data transfer speeds without altering existing network configurations. This feature is particularly useful for optimising site-to-site replication, virtual machine data transfer, and SMB data copying, ensuring consistent and reliable network performance.

IMPORTANT

Tillered Transparent Acceleration requires the use of Full Tillered Nodes (FTN), which act as both Entry and Exit nodes. These nodes are responsible for routing and optimising traffic between the connected sites, ensuring transparent acceleration.

Key Features

  • Enhanced TCP Performance: TTA significantly improves TCP connection speeds and optimising data transfers. This is achieved without changing network configurations, maintaining the same source IP and ports for transparency.

  • Optimised Data Transfer: Tillered Transparent Acceleration uses advanced congestion control and TCP session manipulation techniques to optimise existing bandwidth. This ensures efficient data transfer across connected sites, ideal for high-volume data transfers such as virtual machine replication and SMB data copying.

  • Seamless Integration: TTA integrates smoothly into existing firewall setups, allowing for policy-based routing of traffic through Tillered nodes. This setup ensures minimal disruption to current operations while providing significant performance enhancements.

  • Flexible and Scalable: Suitable for businesses of all sizes, TTA is scalable to meet the growing needs of data transfer and network optimisation. It offers high security and reliability with encrypted connections, ensuring consistent performance.

NOTE

Full Tillered Nodes currently do not support cloud deployment and can only be run on servers using VMware, Proxmox, and HyperV. Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, etc., are not supported at this time.

Get Started

To create a fully transparent network with Tillered for office-to-office connections, follow these steps:

  1. Create a New Network on the Tillered Hub:

    • Name the network as you prefer.
    • Ensure you turn on the "Fully Transparent Network" switch.
  2. Add Your Nodes:

    • You need at least two nodes in the network to use this feature.
    • A Fully Transparent Network locks all nodes as Full Tillered Nodes (FTN) and blocks Tillered Entry Nodes (TEN) or Cloud Exit Nodes (CEN) from joining.
  3. Provision the Nodes:

    • The nodes will enter provisioning mode and configure themselves with the new settings.
    • Once they show as "Provisioned" and turn green, they are ready to be used as gateways for your firewall to route traffic.

NOTE

A network marked as "Fully Transparent Network" can only contain FTN nodes. If you need CEN or TEN nodes for other traffic, create a separate network for them.
